Welcome to North Park Veterinary Group





Although the people have changed we are still twelve veterinary surgeons at the practice. Five of those are partners in the practice and seven are assistants. 
Partners

Jon Herrod-Taylor qualified from London in 1980, came to North Park and stayed. He joined the partnership in 1984. He became Managing Partner in February 2009. He is a 2nd generation vet and was brought up on a dairy farm in Wiltshire. His main interest is in equine work and is a keen follower of the rugby.

Paul Martin qualified from Bristol in 1980 and joined
the practice in 1982. He joined the partnership in 1984. He is interested in cows, sheep and pigs but has a soft spot for pussycats. He is a keen walker, as well as a big rugby fan and enjoys travelling around the UK.
Bryony Herrod-Taylor qualified in 1991 from London
and came straight down to Devon. She joined the partnership in 1996. She has interests in  small animal and equine practice. She plays netball, does yoga, gardens and does mad things for charity.
Roger Cunningham qualified in 1987 from London and has worked in the Westcountry since then. He moved from an Okehampton practice to North Park in 2004. He has interests in farm work. He enjoys skiing, walking on Dartmoor and spending time with his family.
Martin Friggens qualified from Liverpool in 1992. He plays rugby for North Tawton and is a dab hand at carpentry and woodwork. Martin has finally succumbed to becoming a partner in February 2009. He enjoys his small animal and farm work.
Assistants

David Wilford qualified from Liverpool in 1969. He grew up on a farm and has always worked with farm animals. As well as being an ambassador for the charity "Send-a-Cow", he is involved with the local church and has been a campanologist for over 40 years.
 Nick Graham qualified from Cambridge in 2003. He worked in Yorkshire for a period before coming down to Devon in 2005. His interests predominantly lie in equine medicine and surgery. He enjoys cycling, running and riding.
        Sarah Madden qualified from Cambridge in 2005 and has joined the team in January 2008. She enjoys all aspects of mixed work, especially the farm side. Sarah occupies her spare time in a variety of outdoor activies, such as walking, cycling and canoeing.
Caroline Wilson qualified from Glasgow in 2006. Originally from the outskirts of Dundee, she has moved to Devon due to her fondness of farm animals. She enjoys the performing arts and considered a career as an actress before becoming a vet.
Deborah Cunningham joined us as a part-time small animal vet. She consults and operates at our Okehampton branch on a Monday and Thursday morning. When not busy with her three young children, Deborah can often be found running across Dartmoor or in New York marathons.
Brian Hignett qualified from Edinburgh in 1973. After 4 years in the West of Scotland he moved to North Tawton in 1977. He became a partner in 1978 until January 2009, when he has opted for a quieter life, though he will be helping out with the TB testing. His interests outside of work are skiing and crosswords.
Sophie Keytes has recently joined us. She qualified from Glasgow in 2008 and is interested in all aspects of mixed practice.

Support Staff
Margaret is our practice manager and has a myriad of duties to ensure the practice runs smoothly and efficiently on a daily basis. If you have any queries or problems, about North Park Vets please speak to Margaret.

Marion is the practice book-keeper and joined the practice in 1993. She ensures that all the practices accounts balance and that everybody gets paid!

Helen is our invaluable head receptionist and responsible for the management of calls & vets. If you have any queries or problems relating to visits or consultation arrangements please speak to Helen.

Susan is in charge of client accounts and billings, at our Okehampton Branch. If you have any queries about the bills please speak to Susan or Karen.

Karen is also at the Okehampton branch of our practice and is a Suitably Qualifed Person (SQP) for dispensing drugs to farm animal, equine and companion animal clients.

Kathy is on the receptionist team at North Tawton and deal with arranging appointments, dispensing drugs and various other important duties. 

Maggie acts as part time receptionist and nursing assistant. She has recently passed her Animal Nursing Assistant exam with flying colours and enjoys all aspects of laboratory work.

Rachel is the head receptionist in Hatherleigh and is responsible for the day to day running of the branch. She is also a Suitably Qualified Person(SQP) for dispensing drugs to farm animal, equine and small animal clients.

Sue is our longest standing receptionist and covers part time in both North Tawton and Hatherleigh.

Sophie is responsible for the organisation of tuberculosis  testing in cattle and will come with the vet to help on some tests Sophie is invaluble in other practice organisation as well.

Nurses
Carol qualified as a veterinary nurse in 1994. She worked in a busy small animal practice in Berkshire before joining the practice in 2004. She enjoys nurse clinics and client relations. She runs puppy parties with Michelle & Bryony every second Wednesday. Carol is a SQP in small animals.

Lisa qualified in 1990 and then joined the practice in 1991 as the sole nurse! Her main interests lie in medical nursing and training veterinary nurses. Lisa was absent from the practice for a little while as she has been having a family, but is back now on 3 days a week at our Okehampton branch.

Danielle is a trainee nurse, who is in her second year of college and will qualify summer 2009. She has passed her Animal Nursing Assistant exams aleady.

Stef is a trainee nurse. She has passed her Animal Nursing Assistant exams and is in her first year of the Veterinary Nursing course.

Michelle has recently joined our team as a trainee nurse with alot of experience. She is currently working part time at North Tawton.
