NURSE CLINICS
SENIOR DOG &CAT CLINIC
Is Your Dog or Cat Over 8 Years Old
Just as our older relatives can suffer with arthritis, heart or kidney
failure, diabetes and dental/gum disease.......so can our pets.
How do I Know If My Pet Is Affected?
We often don't recognise disease in our
animals because we don't always know what to look for, or we think that
there is nothing we can do to help the problem.
Kidney disease is one of the commonest
causes of death in older cats. Early kidney disease usually goes
unnoticed until the condition is quite advanced. It affects alot of
cats over 8 years old.
Excellent new treatments are available which improve life expectancy and quality of life. Early detection and treatment is very important.
Heart disease is one of the commonest problems
in older dogs. When the heart disease is recognised it can be treated
to give the dog a better quality of life.
Both dogs and cats suffer from arthritis, which can be very debilitating and is easily treated.
These any other problems can be picked up by a thorough examination and discussion of your pet.
What Would We Suggest You Do Now?
Contact the practice to have your dog or cat's health checked by one of our trained Veterinary Nurses.
What Is It Going To Cost?
It is FREE, we at the practice genuinely hope that your pet is completely healthy and remains so for many years to come.
What Does This Involve?
Full physical exam.
Blood pressure check.
We will also do a urine test. Please bring in your pets urine sample,
if you telephone the practice we can advise you, on how to get the
sample.
If the screening process detects any sign of disease your pet may
require further investigations e.g. blood tests. The results of theses
will be fully explained by one of our Veterinary Surgeons. Any further
tests or treatment will not be free of charge though.
Finally, early diagnosis allows for early treatment and with common
conditions such as kidney disease, this can significantly lengthen your
cat's life, whilst providing you with peace of mind.
