Behaviour Problems

With the domestication of our dogs and cats, we have altered their environment completely and so we have put stresses on their natural instincts. It is not surprising therefore that we get some behavioural problems.

First we must make sure that any inappropriate behaviour is not related to hormonal imbalances, pain or any other disease. We then need to look at whether the behaviour exhibited is an extension of a normal behaviour, e.g. collies rounding up people or other pets or is an inappropriate response to any situation or stress. This needs to be identified, so as an owner, you can understand why the pet is behaving differently, to be able to alter this behaviour to one that is acceptable or to be able stop stop the behaviour problem.

We at North Park Vet Group are always happy to discuss any behaviour problems you are encountering but there are times when individual behaviour training can be invaluable.

For dog behavioural problems we recommend Kat Middleton and you can view her website and details at http://www.dogbehaviourist.net
